Joseph Herman Toschlag

Joseph, the seventh child born to bernard and Margaret Toschlag, received his education in the public schools of Wayne twp. and the German Catholic school of Richmond, IN. He died on Sunday, 11-30-1913, 55yr. 7mo. 8da.
Joseph was a Repoblican in politics, taking an active part in local affairs. He resided at home until 21 yrs. old and then rented land in Wayne twp. He lived on rented farms 20 years, then purchased 160 acres of land which was later sold to his son Harry. He farmed and was of the Roman Catholic faith. Robert R. Toschlog now owns this farm that he purchased from his father.

Joseph G. Toschlag 55 yr. 7 mo. 8 da., one of the most prominent farmers of Wayne twp., died at his home 4 miles S.W. of the city at 8:25 o'clock Sunday morning after an illness of several months. He had been afflicted with heart disease and the symptoms of Brights disease, it is said.
Surviving relatives are : his widow, Mrs. Catherine Toschlag; three sons Edward, George, Harry, two daughters Mrs. Robert Mitchell, Miss Rosella Toschlag, 3 brother George, Bernard, Henry; 2 sisters Mrs. Henry Brokamp, and Mrs. Edward Gausepohl. Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew's Church, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. F.A. Roell will officiate. Burial will be at St. Andrew's cemetery. Friends may call anytime.

Joseph married Catherine "Kate" Weiss, daughter of Bernard Weiss and Katharine Kaiser, on 1 Mar 1881 in St. Andrew's, Richmond, IN. (Catherine "Kate" Weiss was born on 29 Oct 1862 in Cummingsville, OH, died on 3 Apr 1939 and was buried in St. Andrew's Cemetary, Richmond, IN.)
