Donald E. Fosdick
Donald E. Fosdick, 74, of New Paris, died Thursday, March 9, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind., after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 15, 1925, in West Alexandria, he was the son of Richard P. and Hattie E. (Parrish) Fosdick. He was a graduate of Richmond High School, and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He had lived in the New Paris area since 1948, and retired in 1988 from Alcoa of Richmond after 39 years of service.
Mr. Fosdick was a member of the Preble County Sheriff's Department Special Deputies for over 20 years, the New Paris Fire Department for 10 years, a Jefferson Township zoning inspector, a Boy Scout leader, 4-H advisor, 25-Year Club of Alcoa, American Legion Post and First Presbyterian Church, all of New Paris.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Fosdick and James Fosdick; and a sister, Hazel Mather.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Madge L. (Wright) Fosdick; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard E. and Victoria Fosdick of New Paris; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara L. and James Mann of Wilmington, N.C., Elizabeth A. and Dale Toschlog of New Paris, Susan E. and David Steele of Eaton.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Christina and Doug Roemer, Angela Collins, Melisa and James Ralston, Michelle Smith, Jennifer Bayt, Julie Steele, Jennifer Steele, Shawn Toschlog and Stephanie Toschlog; great-grandchildren, Dustin Roemer, Dallas Roemer, Joshua Collins, Troy Collins, Marina Ralston, Reed Ralston and Kristopher Smith; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were Monday, March 13, at Barnes Funeral Home-New Paris Chapel, with the Rev. Max Knight officiating. Burial was in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris, with full graveside military services by the Preble County Honor Guard.
