John W. Baumer was a valued citizen of Wayne Co., and explemified in his career of agriculture. He worked his way up from small beginnings, and made good through his labors as an honored citizen. He maintained a dairy farm.
He was schooled in Wayne twp. and worked on his father's farm until he was 22 yrs. old. He leased a place known as the "Black Farm." The homestead stands as a model farm of the township. He raised cattle for his dairy farming business. In politics, Mr. Baumer is a supporter of the Democratic party. John belonged to St. Andrew's Church, and St. Joseph's Benevolent Society.
John married Elizabeth Mary Weiss, daughter of Bernard Weiss and Katharine Kaiser, on 6 Jun 1894 in Richmond, Wayne Co. IN. (Elizabeth Mary Weiss was born on 25 May 1872 in Richmond, Wayne Co. IN and died on 25 Dec 1940 in Richmond, Wayne Co. IN.)
